History

From skates and Lycra to magazine pages and television.

Consuelawear grew from firsthand athletic experience into a standout activewear label known for movement, comfort, and high-voltage print.

The beginning in Phoenix

The idea for Consuelawear started in Phoenix, Arizona when competitive roller dance and speed skating, motherhood, and a need for stylish, affordable activewear collided. Lycra Spandex became the material of choice because it moved, lasted, and looked alive in motion.

Color changed the category

Under Body Designs by Consuela and later Consuela Activewear, the line expanded into leotards, unitards, shorts, swimwear, skate skirts, tank tops, and capri pants. Bold coordinated prints helped shake up a market that was still dominated by solids.
